World Bank Development Marketplace
Innovation Alchemy was involved in designing the process and implementation of World Bank India Development Marketplace in 2011, 2013 and 2014. Its a multi-state competition for innovative social enterprises across India. We facilitated them to apply for and win grant funding and to scale-up support provided by the DM programme. The outreach has a special focus on surfacing projects that had the potential to replicate or scale in Bihar, Odisha, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram. As a result of our extensive research and mapping of these regions, we’ve created a rich database of over 2000 innovative social enterprise organizations across India, especially in low income states. IA engaged with several organizations through the Development Marketplace platform, generating over 500 applications for grant funding over the last 3 years. We devised a very rigorous assessment process and finally 46 social enterprises were awarded grants of a total of USD 3.5 million to support them scale their models or projects.
